Ruben Hoeke about his latest discovery:
Tayden True Brit speakers
At the beginning of 2011 I got a phone call from (K&E) Aryjan Kool. Aryjan was very enthousiastic about his latest discovery:
Tayden speakers.
To be honest I had never heard of Tayden, so after a bit of googling I found out that Tayden is a speaker manufacturer of hand-built guitar speakers from 'good ole England'. Apparently Tayden has been building these speakers since the 1970s, but for some reason they have not yet been discovered by the guitarplayers on the main land. Now I was already pretty satisfied with my two old Celestion Blackbacks and I recently ordered two of those very expensive ‘pre-rola' clones from the USA for my second K&E XLs212 cab. However, very unfortunately I did not get that ‘pre-rola' sound even after a considerable number of gigs. So somewhat sceptical I decided to approach Aryjan about the Tayden speakers. By the end of February I tried the Tayden True Brit’s at the K&E test room. The True Brit’s convinced me in a sec. These speakers had not even been broken in yet but sounded amazing.
It captures that creamy, smooth warmth of the original 20 Watt Greenback and blends it perfectly with that sparkling good old 25 Watt greenback. This astonishing speaker sounds great on any sound level! No ‘harsh’ or ‘dull’ sounds, no Mr.!, all frequencies and harmonics come through easily.
But most remarkable: it’s totally got a character of it’s own!
Some speakers sound flat or have a nasty frequency spike. Some are shrill, have poor bass response or undefined mids. But Tayden True Brit’s are just perfect. The Taydens sound awesome 'straight out of the box' and over time they seem to sound even better.
I’ve been using the Tayden speakers ever since the day I tried them for the first time, they are very inspiring indeed! I highly recommend this beautiful hand built speaker.
So, now It’s up to you to experience Tayden True Brit yourself!
